| | Back Pain From Changing Positions | | | Question | | | I made a number of suggested ergonomic changes to my workstation and now I am noticing some discomfort. What do you think is going on?
| | | Answer | | | Well, there are a couple of things that could be causing you discomfort. I assume that you are not slouching in your chair, and your seat is all the way back on the seat cushion and your back is supported by the back cushion. Then it might be that your muscles are not use to the changes that you made to your workstation set-up. You may want to change the angle of your chair to relieve the discomfort.
| | | Since muscles have memory and want to return to your old posture they are being stretched too much. So, work up to the new posture a little slower. If conditions continue or become more uncomfortable see your doctor, physical therapist and or report it to the person in charge of these issues at your company. Be sure to ask about some simple stretching exercises.
